Customer Review: A great Start
After a stressful day of going around with an Avid cyclist, trying to find a good road bike to fit my budget, we gave up on going to all the local cycle stores and took our hunt online. We came across this bike and my friend was hesitant with giving it the o.k, however it turned out to be a good call. I'm around 5'10 200 lbs, and the bike fits me great, though as previously stated the handle bars are a bit iffy, but you get used to it pretty quick. After riding about a year I'm now ready to upgrade, but it's definitely a great bike for any starter. I've put at least 500 miles on it and I stress at least, and its held up great.
Customer Review: skinny wheels or not skinny wheels
im not actually writing a review but i have a question? are the wheels on this bike considered skinny because i want skinny wheels and im a starter in cycling so i dont know if the wheels on this bike are skinny so can someone please tell me if the wheels on this bike is skinny i would greatly appreciated thank you

Topeak DeFender M1 Mountain Bike Fender (Front)

Topeak DeFender M1 Mountain Bike Fender (Front) The Topeak DeFender M1 Front Fender is compatible with all standard front forks including reverse arch designs. The unique quick release attachment system integrates the DeFender M1 seamlessly with the front of your bike. The Topeak DeFender M1 Front Fender is constructed with a stiff engineering grade plastic frame that is co-molded to a softer more flexible material at the trailing edge for greater durability.
Customer Review: NICE!!!
I installed this fender in just a few minutes. It seems typical of Topeak products as it well designed, attractive and built to last. The fender simply snaps off and on as needed. It actually enhances the look of my bike so I plan to leave it on. I have been very impressed with Topeak products overall.
Customer Review: Perfect for every rider!
This keeps most of the water off you if you ride on wet roads, but because they sit so far off of the tire, they leave some room for water to spray your legs. This is definitely a must have product if you want to keep dirt off of the underside of your bike and yourself. There are two detachable pieces and one piece that stays mounted into the fork. A few turns of an allen wrench and it's in place. It detaches very easily by pressing a button and pulling on the part you want to take off. The tips of the fender are made of a gel-like plastic and the rest of the fender is made of a harder plastic material.

I have owned this product for a few months now and have not had any worries about breaking it. It is very durable and you would have to try to break it. I am very happy with topeak products in general and would recommend this brand to anyone that wants accessories for their bicycle.

Customer Review: Pretty good tandem, good shipping, good customer service
Tandem arrived in pretty good shape, and quickly. Amazon does a good job of shipping. This is the third bike shipped to me this year, so I'm somewhat experienced in good and bad packing and shipping jobs. There were a couple of minor issues. The back seat post was slightly bent. It took a small hammer and small bar and about 5 minutes to round it out so that the seat would slide in and tighten correctly. Works fine. The rear inner tube had a hole, and the front inner tube had a bad valve. I called Kent customer service, and they were courteous and helpful, and immediately shipped two tubes. In the interim I put slime in both tubes to be able to test ride it. The bike rides very comfortably with the 26x2.125 tires. I joke that they look and ride like car tires. It is heavy, however, the gear ratio compensates, especially the granny gear for hills. The back seat is designed for any height. Standover is 20", front is approx 29". My stoker is 4'11. Perfect fit for her. Gears shift easily, but they do require adjustment. Front and real derailleur adjustment is fairly simple. Just look on youtube for how to adjust gears or derailleurs. Wheels are fairly true, a little off. Again, Youtube shows how to adjust them, or, take the bike to a local bike shop and for $40 they'll tune and adjust and oil it. Well worth it if you have zero mechanical skills. The bike looks sharp for a tandem. It turns a lot of heads. For $284 and free shipping, it's a good deal.
Customer Review: tandem bike with missing parts
Bike arrived fast in shipping and in contrast from previous reviews was fairly easy to put together using the manual. Only problem is there are numerous parts missing-4 pedal feet, reflectors, and front and rear fenders. Are these a part of the bike (it says they are in the manual). We are planning to call customer service first thing in the morning and request that these items are sent out so hopefully they accomodate our request. We will update our review if we recieve the items requested. We can not test the bike until we at least recieve the pedals. We do not want to return the bike as we am definitely afraid of the shipping costs!!

About Mongoose
In 1974, BMX Products, Inc., later to be known as Mongoose Bicycles, launched from a humble garage. The first of its kind, the BMX bicycle was named after bicycle motocross and was designed to fit the needs of the rough-and-tumble dirt-racing pastime that took its toll on wheels and bicycles. The heavy-duty, one-piece cast-aluminum Mongoose Motomag wheel was soon born, and it was the first competition-ready BMX bicycle available. Skip Hess, while in Australia pursuing his motor sports passion, came into contact with a strange and unusual cat-size animal--the mongoose. Known for its passive nature while unprovoked, yet vicious and aggressive enough to kill a threatening Cobra twice its size, the Mongoose impressed Hess, who quickly registered the Mongoose trademark for his new bicycle racing frame.

The Expert BMX bicycle model, which is still a cornerstone of the Mongoose BMX line today, was introduced in 1980. Shortly after, Mongoose captured the first ever ABA National #1 Cruiser Title. Previously known for the 20-inch bicycle, this title signaled the re-direction of Mongoose bicycles to larger-wheeled, adult-sized models. Several years later, Mongoose continues to dominate the cruiser racing circuit with six National No. 1 Cruiser titles, leading to the introduction of adult-sized Mongoose all-terrain bicycles (ATBs).

In 1992, Mongoose pioneered the full-suspension market with the introduction of the Amplifier. This design is still the most-copied suspension design in the market. Several year later, Mongoose launched the Newman adult bicycle frame, which is proven to be 15% stronger than any other bike frame in the market. The design, while functionally sound, also raised eyebrows because of its distinctive look.

In the next few years, Mongoose increased its marketing focus to dominate the bicycle industry, and more important, extend beyond it. The Mongoose brand marketing initiative makes more than 100 million impressions. Mongoose’s brand awareness increased by over 130% in 1999 and solidifies the No. 2 market share position in units and dollars. Mongoose was acquired by Pacific Cycle, LLC, and continues to grow and prosper with more than 40 models of BMX, mountain, trail, freestyle, jumping, comfort, road, and cyclocross bikes.

Customer Review: Great!!
Well this bike is very great but a little bit to heavy!! When I first got mine the chain guard was making a funny noise so I took it off and the brakes are really hard to get to work good...(my opinion)anyway other than that it is a great bike! also pretty good for jumping..highly recommend to anyone.
Customer Review: It's ok for a first time BMX bike
This is a beginner's BMX bike and it is geared more for younger kids. The instructions are very confusing because they included every bike they make and it is up to you to try and find this bike and pieces randomly placed in manual for assembly. The breaks are not very good especially the rear breaks. Everything else is standard and nothing special. The packaging is not very good and my bike had a few dings on it. If you are looking for a first time BMX bike this is the bike for you, but if you are looking for a nice BMX bike I suggest you look else where. Remeber that you get what you pay for and this bike is a very inexpensive so good luck with your purchase.

Customer Review: "Love My E-Zip Trailz"
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R68SL5AXVSUBQ I love my E-Zip Trailz bike!

I Added the very bright Planet Bike Supper blinky Flash tail light and the front(Pyramid Pro Chrome Cruiser Bicycle Fenders, 26") I put the front fender on the rear of my E-Zip, There's no need to remove rear tire or wheel, bolts up perfectly and the same size screw that holds the water bottle to the frame will fit the threded hold where the fender blots behind the frames crank assembly, You will need to let the air out of the rear tire to get the screw and washer started, It's a tight fit to get fingers in the space between the tire and frame but it's not nessary to use that fender mounting spot if you lack mechanical skills because the fender fits tight regardless,

But it's sweet knowing you installed it perfectly as if it was specially designed just for the E-Zip, The fender is ajustable with the washer & screw and if not locked into place you may need to bend fender to clear the chain.

The washer if big enough it will lock the fender to the frame, no fender hold needed.

The fender braces will bend inside and around the rear rack & attery case.

The E-Zip is so impressive I even get compliments from people riding Harley-Davidson's!

Everybody who sees it "W0W" about it and starts a wide range of conversations!

I get really good mileage 12 to 15 at 8 & 10 mph speeds and in 4th & 5th geras most of the time, Though I do put a good workout into it to get the 15 miles without breaking into a serious sweet! I weigh 197lbs and I'm almost 61 years old and boy has this bike been a "God Sent" to own and ride.

I lost the rubber caps to cover the battery connectors on the rack so I used a aluminum zip top from a coffee can to form and cover for it.

This bike is solid as a tank I have no gripes about it for the price of this beautiful mechine and respect it as a Motorcycle because thats exactly what it is!

I can say that after getting 4 broke ribs, scapula, puntured lung, banged up shoulder and ankle, I hit a black thing sticking off a steel pole that people use to change the stop light for cross wall, It was dark still at 6am and in the shodows the thing was invisable and cought me in my righ side at 10 mph. I bought the pole and concrete drive with lethal pain. If I had the money I would buy 2 more E-Zips to use as spare parts because the bike will be a very old model in just a short few years.

Make sure you check your front and rear axles to make sure there not to tight, You want your axle to spin easy, For some reason most new bikes needed backing off of the bearing retainer nuts a little.

Good luck and enjoy your experience and bike for the times you have with it!

Live is to short after 40.
Customer Review: Nice eBike for the Price
For the price you can't beat this eBike. I bought one a few days ago and have been riding to/from work (7miles one way). I found that the gear shifter is a little poor in quality, but other than that, the bike seems very durable. Also, with the battery in place the bike's 7 speeds is not enough to go up slight inclines -- battery adds about ~20lbs. Overall, I am very please with the purchase and enjoy riding so much, that I get bummed out when I have to drive to work.

Topeak Road Morph G Bike Pump with Gauge

Topeak Road Morph G Bike Pump with Gauge Every dedicated cyclist needs a good portable pump for his or her training rides. However, many on-the-go pumps are somewhat clunky and not all that easy to use. Enter the Topeak Road Morph G, which packs floor pump efficiency and ease of use into a compact, portable design you can bring along for the ride. The Road Morph G boasts a clever foldout footpad that stabilizes the pump against the ground rather than your hand, creating a comfortable, efficient pumping motion. Plus, the pump's flexible air hose makes it easy to work with awkward or tight valve placements while also helping prevent valve stem damage. Other features include an extra-long barrel, an inline gauge, a secure mounting bracket, a Presta/Schrader head, and a plastic thumb lock. The Road Morph G measures 2.2 by 13.8 by 1.1 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 0.49 pounds.

Customer Review: Great but expensive
This pump works really well and the gauge on it is accurate as well. Changing from different valves is really simple as well.
Customer Review: really the best
1) very well designed overall

2) has a foot pad! it seems small and insignificant, but, it make a huge difference (much easier to get to proper pressure than a hand pump)

3) has a gauge. enough said.

i think this is a must-have for your bike.

Topeak DeFender M2 Mountain Bike Fender (Rear)

Topeak DeFender M2 Mountain Bike Fender (Rear) The Topeak DeFender M2 Rear Fender has an ultra-secure quick release mounting system that easily adjusts from 25.4 to 34.9mm, easily fitting standard and oversized seat posts. The two-pivot arm articulates for impoved tire coverage and perfect bike fit. The Topeak DeFender M2 Rear Fender features a stiff engineering grade plastic support frame that is co-molded to a softer more flexible material at the trailing edge for greater durability.
Customer Review: Horrible..
Looks great and all, and a cinch to install. But as I was getting onto the bike, I accidentally kicked it and it snapped at the arm, which is deceptively thin and unsupported.
Customer Review: TOPEAK M2 REAR FENDER
THIS FENDER IS GREAT AND WORKS AS WELL AS THE FRONT M1 FENDER. SAME STYLING AND COOL LOOK. YOU CAN ADJUST IT COUNTLESS WAYS. IT STOPS DEBRIS FROM KICKING UP ON YOUR BACK SIDE AND GREAT ON A RAINY DAY. IF YOU USE A REAR FENDER YOU NEED TO HAVE SOMETHING HOLDING THE BIKE UP WHEN YOUR NOT RIDING LIKE A DISPLAY STAND OR KICK STAND. MOST PEOPLE WHO USE THIS PRODUCT WILL HAVE A HIGH END MOUNTAIN BIKE WHICH USUALLY DOESN'T HAVE A KICK STAND AND THATS WHERE THE FENDER BECOMES A PROBLEM. IF YOU LEAN IT ON SOMETHING THE FENDER WILL USUALLY BE THE FIRST THING LEANING ON THE OBJECT BECAUSE IT STICKS OUT WHICH MAY CAUSE IT TO WARP A LITTLE OR STRESS IT DO TO THE BIKES WEIGHT. YOU COULD LEAN THE BIKE BY THE HANDLE BARS THEN YOUR FINE UNLESS YOU GET HOOKED ON THE BARS AND THE BIKE FALLS (ARGGG). IT'S DEF A GOOD FENDER, YOU JUST NEED TO PLAN THE BIKES STORAGE. I ORDERED THE DISPLAY STANDS AND THE BIKE STANDS FREE AND NO MORE LEANING ON ANY THING. I DIDN'T USE THE REAR FENDER UNTIL I GOT THE STANDS TO SAVE HEADACHES. YOU CAN USE THE FRONT FENDERS WITH OUT ISSUE. THEY ALWAYS STAY OUT OF THE WAY. IF YOU WANT TO USE THE REAR FENDER RIGHT AWAY IT COMES OFF EASILY AND YOU COULD TAKE IT OFF AFTER YOUR RIDE IS DONE SO AS NOT TO SNAG IT ON SOMETHING. I THINK THE STAND IS A BETTER OPTION PLUS YOU CAN WORK ON YOUR BIKE IF NEEDED. VERY DURABLE MATERIALS - GREAT PRICE - GREAT BUY. BIKE SHOPS TRY TO SELL THE CHEAPER VERSION FOR 2WICE AS MUCH.

Over the next 30 years, Blackburn's spark of innovation would lead to many revolutionary products, like the first high quality aircraft aluminum rack, the first dual stroke minipump, the first oversized mountain minipump and the first dual stage/dual stroke floorpump just to name a few. For 2005, Blackburn's creative spark is burning brighter than ever. And as we head into our 30th year, Blackburn is re-dedicated to designing smart, reliable, no nonsense accessories that are essential to your riding experience.

Customer Review: Space Saving and Effective
This pump works great for typical maintenance of your bike. Unless you are pumping up bike tires all day long, who needs a floor pump that takes up space and cost twice as much or more. This little guy is simple to use, feels sturdy in my hands, is easy to stow, and carries a good warranty. I would definitely recommend this pump.
Customer Review: Estupenda
muy buena opción de compra, es de aluminio, compacta y con buena presión, se las recomiendo

Customer Review: It's good grip tape.
It's not very remarkable, but it does what is supposed to. I used it to replace some "tape" on my dad's 1760's Shwinn Varsity, and am very pleased.

On the quality: It seems great. I don't have a whole lot of experience on the stuff, but it was very easy to put on for a couple of reasons. First off, it is stretchy, and won't tear if you pull it tight. It's actually quite difficult to stretch it to breaking point (of course you can, though). It is backed with a substance that is tacky, but not like glue. It might be the same type of stuff they stick on the bottom of cycling shorts to keep them from riding up. Anyway, it's very forgiving if you mess up.

The one thing that I have noticed is that it is starting to unwind on one side. However, this is due to the way I wrapped that side. IT IS NECESSARY TO WRAP THIS STUFF WITH THE RIGHT METHOD. Google it or something. Also, the tape they gave me was not good or long enough. Have some electrical tape ready.

About the color. I bought the yellow, which was SOLID yellow and not flaked like the red-black deal in the picture. It's nice.
Customer Review: I would use again
This was the first time that I have used bar tape, it went on easily. I would recommend this to others.

Mongoose BMX Bike Gel Knee and Elbow Pads

Mongoose BMX Bike Gel Knee and Elbow Pads Customer Review: Knee pads
The knee pads were a bit big. They recommended it with the youth helmet, which I guess they are, however, we won't be able to use them until hopefully next year. Great deal and I like the gel inside.
Customer Review: It works the way it was designed to.
These protective pads work perfectly on my six year old when he rides his scooter. They are easy to put on and take off, although he hasn't quite mastered putting them on, on his own. They definitely provide the necessary protection and have helped to avoid many scrapes and bruises. Most importantly, after two months of frequent use, the velcro shows no sign of losing its adhesiveness.

Great bike for my 4 year old5
We got this bike for my 4-year old daughter for Christmas and it is great. The perfect size and ease of maneurverability for her. She can easily pedal, stop and coast.

Get this bike!5
This is an excellent bike! It was easy to assemble and the quality seems to be just fine. I was considering buying each of my daughters an (expensive) Trek bike from one of our local bike stores. After thinking about it, though, I decided to buy this one instead since I thought she would grow out of this size bike after just a year or so. I try to buy high-quality products, which is why I was considering the ($150+) Trek. But I'm really glad we decided on this one. For a little girl's bike, this one is just perfect. For the money, it was a great buy. My girls love to put things in the pouches that are attached to the front of the bike. I think the bikes are prettier in person than online, too. If you're considering a bike for your little girl, I highly recommend this one!

Great Bike but Instructions Could be Better4
The Princess bike is just what my granddaughter wanted and is well built and very colorful. Any little girl would be very happy with it. The only problem is a very minor one. The assembly instructions appear to be written as a "one size fits all" instruction for all Huffy bikes rather than specific instructions for this one, so some degree of interpretation is necessary. Anyone who has assembled children's toys or bikes in the past won't have a problem. Also, at one point, the instructions seem to imply the need for a torque wrench, which most people wouldn't have. Nonetheless, assembly is pretty easy, and the lack of a torque wrench shouldn't be a problem if judgment is used in place of an actual measurement of torque.

Product Description

The Huffy® Disney® Princess 16-in girl's bicycle provides a safe, fun, and comfortable ride with a double-guard chain guard, training wheels, and a padded saddle with a logo. This bike also comes with a handlebar bag, wheels inserts, and streamers.

Pretty but not good3
It's very pretty and my daughter really loved it. However, we ended up returning it after one day. The pedal fell off continuously. The manufacturer didn't make the pedal insert area properly. Instead of spinning, the pedal would unwind itself and fall off. It was annoying at first then became dangerous as the pedal fell off in the middle of riding on the road. The floor model was doing this when we were trying it out at the store. We assumed it was due to over-use from the potential customers. It turns out that the bike parts are all made improperly.

I bought this bike for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. I was not sure if it would be too big, but it was perfect! I can also see her being able to use it for years to come. She rides around on it like she is a teenager, she really loves it, which is what matters most to me. I also bought her the matching princess helmet and arm/knee pads. I got it for $68.99 at Walmart, and it was already assembled! I am very pleased with this product. I would recommend it to friends.

Customer Review: schwinn prelude: decent bike - stellar price
First off I do not give this bike a 5 star rating based on how wonderful it is. You need to spend Several thousand dollars for that bike. This gets a 5 star rating because it is not several thousand dollars yet it is an acceptable entry level road bike.

At just under 28 pounds it is 10 pounds heavier than a $4000 bike. Of course it is only a pound or 2 heavier than a $500 bike. And I argue that anyone riding an entry level bike has that on their own midsection anyway. If you are new to cycling you can get this and ride for a year before investing the big bucks while you decide if you like cycling and what you like and don't like about a bike.

I bought mine directly from Target (on sale!) so I could get an idea of the size rather than buy on line. I noticed another reviewer said a person 5' 10 - 6'2" would be comfortable. I somewhat agree with the top end but I am 5' 7 3/4" and am comfortable on it. The seat post could still be dropped an other inch and a half but I would say that I am about as short as you could be to have the right body to bike geometry. Someone 5'6" could ride it but I would not recommend it. I would say the same for someone 6'2".

I have put 300 HARD miles on it. I bought it to train for my come back into triathlons (My last tri was in '87) but I have wound up using it as my daily driver pulling my 2 daughters in the bike trailer 280 of the 300 miles.

I store it the garage but it has been aloud to get wet frequently on rides. The dérailleurs have begun to rust as a result of wet conditions.

It has only had one problem since I bought it - the crank bearings began to click. This probably is a result of pulling 100 pounds regularly.

These bikes have a LIFETIME warrantee on parts!!! - I called the 800 number in the owners manual. They sent me a new bearing set and I installed them. The down side of this is that if you don't have the tools you are in need of paying upwards to $50 for this repair.

If I continue to ride it next year I would upgrade the apt yet clunky bottom of the line shimano derailleurs. I would probably also get a lighter seat and possibly seat post or pedals.

GMC Denali Boy's 24-Inch Road Bike

GMC Denali Boy's 24-Inch Road Bike Sized for the smaller rider, the GMC Denali boy's 24-inch road bike is perfect for kids who are still growing or who are stature-challenged but still want a high-quality ride. The frame size is 17 inches, while the stand-over height is 26 inches, giving it all the strength, durability, and style of the full-size Denali but in a proportional size. More significantly, it's outfitted with a full array of elite alloy components, including a sturdy triple-chaining alloy crank set, precision brakes, easy-to-grip handlebars, and smooth- rolling wheels.

Hill climbing is made easier thanks to the sturdy crank set and trusty Shimano TZ40 derailleurs, which round out the drive train, while the Shimano Revo 21- speed twist shifters provide precise, hassle-free shifts. Other details include a lightweight 36-spoke wheel set with V-profile rims, Kenda tires with color accent trims, and a lifetime warranty on the frame and fork.

Customer Review: Great Bike for the Price
For the price you can't beat this. A good sturdy bike, and it rides well. My only complaint is that I had to take it to get adjustments before I could ride it, which was an extra cost.
Customer Review: great value
The bike was easy to put together and rides extremely well. My 12 year old son loves it.

Planet Bike Comfort GEL Road Bike Handlebar Tape with Reflective Bar Plugs

Planet Bike Comfort GEL Road Bike Handlebar Tape with Reflective Bar Plugs Say no to sore hands with this handlebar tape from Planet Bike. Designed for road bikes, the tape boasts a soft, durable gel construction that becomes tacky when wet for a better grip. It's also highly fade- and water-resistant, helping it hold up to heavy use over time. And riders will love the variety of UV-protected colors, which include blue cork, white cork, orange cork, fluorescent green, celeste cork, and black cork. As with all Planet Bike products, the gel tape is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

About Planet Bike
In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.

Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled.

Customer Review: really the best
1) very well designed overall

2) has a foot pad! it seems small and insignificant, but, it make a huge difference (much easier to get to proper pressure than a hand pump)

3) has a gauge. enough said.

i think this is a must-have for your bike.
Customer Review: Ok for low pressure tires
This pump will work just fine for bikes with low pressure tires, but it gets very difficult to use above 90 psi. I have high pressure tires that need to be inflated to 100 - 140 psi. I am not a small guy at all, but my hands and arms were killing me by the time I got the tire pressure to about 120 psi. It felt like I had done a weightlifting workout! I will keep the pump in case I get a flat on the road, but I am going to buy another pump for home use only. The other problem with this pump is that it doesn't easily mount anywhere on the frame of the bike. There is no mounting kit included with the pump, so you'll have to jury rig something or stick it in a pannier or backpack.

this bike is what i wanted ,right out of the box flashy and fast ! had it going in 30 min

Lamborghini Classica Road Bike (25-Inch Frame)5
Great bike, I am 6.1" and the 25 inch frame is perfect for me... I went to several bike stores and I could not find a bike like this for this price. The shifter is very very smooth... In addition I can say that I have a Lamborghini in my garage. I cannot believe the price on this bike.

Very Good Choice for the Price4
Overall, I think this is a very good bike for $400. I'm torn about whether to rate it a 4 or a 5, but I decided on a 4 because it's not perfect.
Background:
I was in the market for a solid road bike under $500 to use to commute to work, and I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for in bike shops around town. I came across the Tonino Lamborghini Classica on Amazon and realized it was exactly the type of bike I wanted. After reading the generally positive reviews, I rationalized the online purchase.
Pros:
- Brushed aluminum, black, and red combination looks great
- Smooth, relatively comfortable ride
- Solid components (derailleur took some tweaking to make it shift smoothly, but it's doing well now)
- Free shipping; I received it in 2 days
Cons:
- Assembling the bike and tweaking the components took several hours. Although not impossible for a novice, you may want to take it to a bike shop to ensure you correctly adjust derailleurs, brakes, and wheel alignment
- Manual is more generic than it should be; it would help if it were written specifically for this bike
- The cage pedals seem cheap; I find that the nylon strap comes detached from the pedal too easily.
Overall:
I definitely recommend this bike for novice to intermediate riders who don't see the point in spending $1500 for a bicycle.

Customer Reviews

A great bike if you don't like to stop.2
I bought this bike for my 9 year old daughter. Overall it is a good bike for $[...], however, there are 2 major design flaws I have found already. The braking system is RIDICULOUS for a child of 9-10; perhaps ok for an 11 or 12 year old, but a 9 year old does not have the finger strenght to operate the brakes from the top of the drops, and they can just barely reach the lever when they go down in the drops. Moving from the top riding position, grabbing the brakes and stopping quickly in an emergency is next to impossible and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS if your child hands are not big enough. The other minor flaw is that the handlebar has an adapter to fit the stem, which is cheesy. The correct size stem should have been used, but the manufacture cheaps out on this feature.
I spent another $[...] to get the bike modified to a straight handlebar, correct stem, brake levers and other minor parts and labor so that it would be safe for my daughter to ride.
The bike is much more appropriate if your child has larger hands, but without in-line brake levers added, I think its still a little dangerous.
It is an attactive bike, and my daughter loved it, but unless your child is bigger, I would suggest spending $300 (cost of the bike + needed modifications) on an nice Trek kids bike.

Don't believe the other reviews - I did and regret it1
I trusted all these reviews against my instinct to not buy a bike online and I regret it. Upon recieving this bike, I took it to a shop to be assembled and tuned up by a qualified technician. He called me later to tell me there was a serious defect in the manufacturing and to return it if I could. Now I'm having a hard time dealing with Amazon trying to get my partially assembled bike mailed back to them. It's not worth the incredible hassle I'm dealing with now, just buy a better bike. I guess you do get what you paid for. Overall, it's just not worth the disappointment, I promise.

Great Option for this age group4
This was the only option we could find for our growing daughter that wasn't closer to a grand in price. As a family we tend to take off and ride our local rail trail for several miles, often riding to other nearby towns. Our daughter was doing up to 15 mile trips on her 20" that she outgrew. We really wanted a bike with lightweight wheels and tires for long rides. Her 20" that she outgrew was 7 speed, and therefore she was already comfortable shifting on hills. Also her natural cadence is much higher than her friends that learned on single speed bikes.
There are at least 4 different 24" tire sizes that are not interchangeable. This size is the only one that has the option of using skinny road tires. However the tires that come on it are a medium width that's about perfect for our local rail trail made of packed gravel. It's nice knowing we have the option to use pavement tires if we want to.
Our daughter actually didn't like the road handlebars, but everything else was good considering the price (not high end components, but serviceable). I switched the handlebars to an alloy straight bar ($10), and found Shimano 7x3 combined trigger shifters/brakes (another $35). The stock twist shifters will actually go on a straight bar, with the addition of simple brake levers.
She now has the equivalent of a fitness bike, with geometry appropriate for her age, That rolls easily on lightweight wheels, that allows road tires if we want to add them, that allows shifting to go over hills... for very little money compared to the other options. But more importantly our daughter loves it.
